Area baseball, softball action washed out

Area high school baseball and softball action today, including the first day of Central Catholic High School's annual baseball tournament, has been washed out by the rain.
Among the tournament games washed out today were a 5:40 p.m. contest between Ascension Catholic and Patterson and a 7:45 p.m. contest between Central Catholic and Central Lafourche.
A revised schedule of the tournament, which is set to run through Saturday, has not been released.
Meanwhile, Morgan City's baseball game today against Scotlandville at Plaquemine High School's Sam Distefano Classic has been cancelled. The Tigers were scheduled to play Friday against Plaquemine at 6:30 p.m., too, but that game also has been cancelled.
In softball, postponements include Berwick's District 8-3A contest at Erath, Patterson's District 8-3A contest at home against Kaplan, Morgan City's District 7-4A contest at Ellender and Central Catholic's District 7-1A contest on the road against Lafayette Christian.
While no make up date has been set for Morgan City's contest, Berwick's contest will be made up April 8 at 5:30 p.m. at Erath, Patterson's on Wednesday at home after Kaplan plays at Berwick in a 4 p.m. contest and Central Catholic's on Monday at 4:30 p.m. on the road.
