Berwick advances to bi-regionals

Berwick High School edged Houma Christian, 14-13, Tuesday in a loser’s bracket game at the South Central High School Bowling League Regional Tournament in Houma to advance to next week’s Bi-Regional round of the playoffs Monday at Lafayette Lanes in Lafayette.
While Berwick led Houma Christian, 9-7, after two games, Houma Christian rallied back in the third game, actually winning four points to Berwick’s two. However, Berwick knocked down 21 more total pins combined in the three matches than Houma Christian to escape with the 14-13 victory and advance to the next round.
Mark Lemoine led Berwick with a 576 series (221, 186, 169). Other top bowlers included Aaron Barrilleaux, 558 series (203, 189, 166), Lucas Landry, 536 series (174, 202), Abram Gilder, 535 series (203, 184) and Chris Beltran, 516 series (164, 167, 185).
Berwick, along with Morgan City’s girls, will compete again Monday against unannounced teams at Lafayette Lanes in Lafayette. Morgan City’s girls advanced after knocking off South Terrebonne Monday in second-round action.
In singles action, Morgan City bowler Jayson Hidalgo and Central Catholic bowler Josh Abney have advanced. Central Catholic’s Emily Price is a first alternate.
Berwick advanced to face Houma Christian after knocking off South Terrebonne Monday, 16-11.
Lemoine led Berwick with a 685 series (208, 212, 265). Other top bowlers included Barrilleaux, 587 series (217, 215); Landry, 518 series (216); Gilder (176, 164); Beltran (199); Brandon Lemoine (170); and Cameron Kelly (166).
On Monday, Berwick, the No. 3 seed, was upset by No. 6 seed E.D. White, 19-8.
Barrilleaux led Berwick with a 598 series (211, 204, 183). Other top bowlers included Mark Lemoine 541 series (169, 195, 177), Landry (165, 186) and Beltran (184).
Morgan City girls advance to Bi-Regional round.
Morgan City, the No. 3 seed, knocked off No. 6 South Terrebonne in second-round action Monday at the South Central High School Bowling League Regional Tournament to advance to the Bi-Regional round of the playoffs Monday at Lafayette Lanes in Lafayette.
Meghan Amador led Morgan City with a 542 series (179, 188. 175). Other top bowlers included Hannah Pipes, 507 series (189, 190); Regan Barbier, 458 series (150, 170); Marissa Davis, 452 series (160); Laura Nolazco (174); and Ali Tregle (157).

Morgan City fell to Houma Christian, 17.5-9.5, eliminating it from team contention at the South Central High School Bowling League Regional Tournament at Creole Lanes in Houma Monday.
Jayson Hidalgo led Morgan City with a 607 series (222, 206, 179). Other top bowlers included Antoine Bui, 557 series (202, 237), Zachary Stewart, 529 series (177, 178, 174), Trevor Tong (174, 169), Jonathan Spinella (161) and Jason Myers (161).
Morgan City fell to the loser’s bracket after falling to top seed H.L. Bourgeois, 26-1, in second-round action Monday.
Hidalgo led Morgan City with a 577 series (192, 172, 213). Other top bowlers included Myers, 504 series (161, 164, 179); Stewart (176, 168), Tong (167) and Spinella (161).
Morgan City, the tournament’s No. 9 seed, advanced to the second round after upsetting No. 8 seed Central Lafourche in first-round action. No score or stats were available today.
Central Catholic falls to Houma Christian
Central Catholic was eliminated from postseason team contention as the No. 13 seed Eagles fell to No. 4 Houma Christian, 24-3, Monday at the South Central High School Bowling League Regional Tournament at Creole Lanes in Houma.
Josh Abney led Central Catholic with a 556 series (226, 193). Other top bowlers included Emily Price, 430 series (167) and Dave Laubach (164).
