Berwick High finishes 3-1 at Assumption's tourney

Berwick High School led the local contingent at Assumption’s tournament with a 3-1 mark.
On Thursday, Berwick defeated Chalmette 2-0 (26-24, 25-23) and Central Lafourche 2-1 (12-25, 25-22, 15-8), while on Saturday, the squad fell to South Terrebonne 2-0 (25-22, 25-21) and defeated Ascension Catholic 2-0 (25-19, 25-15).
Against Chalmette, Ashton Morales led Berwick with three aces, eight kills, one block, seven assists and 11 digs, while Mary Jordan Melancon had two kills, four assists and 12 digs.
Other top contributors included Brittany Roberie, one ace and 15 digs; Jordan Lipari, two aces, two kills and eight digs; and Madelyn Gros, two kills, one block and five digs.
Against Central Lafourche, Morales and Melancon once again led the Lady Panthers. Morales had two aces, 14 kills, one block, four assists and nine digs, while Melancon had one ace, three kills, eight assists and 14 digs.
Other top contributors included Roberie, one ace and 21 digs; Madelyn Gros, five kills and four digs; Rosalyn Gros, eight digs; and Emma Hover, five digs.
Against South Terrebonne, Morales had one ace, five kills, four assists and four digs, while Melancon had one ace, three kills, one block, four assists and three digs.
Other top contributors included Lipari, one ace, three kills and six digs; Roberie, two aces, one kill and 12 digs; and Hover, five digs.
Against Ascension Catholic, Morales had six kills, one block, two assists and eight digs, while Melancon had one ace, one kill, one block, five assists and eight digs.
Other top contributors included Roberie, two aces and 16 digs; and Sydney Aucoin, one kill, two blocks and two digs.
Berwick (4-2) will return to action today when it travels to face Terrebonne. Junior varsity action will begin at 4 p.m. with varsity to follow at 5 p.m.
Morgan City finishes 2-2 at Assumption
Morgan City finished 2-2 at Assumption’s tournament this weekend, splitting its games Thursday and Saturday.
On Thursday, Morgan City fell to Houma Christian 2-0 (25-22, 25-19) before defeating South Lafourche 2-0 (25-20, 25-7).
On Saturday, Morgan City defeated Central Catholic 2-1 (25-17, 23-25, 15-12) and fell to Thibodaux 2-1 (25-18, 17-25, 12-15).
Against Houma Christian, Morgan City had 10 aces.
Alex Thompson led the team with three aces, three kills, four blocks and two digs, while Dwanna LeBeau had three aces, one kill and one dig.
Other top contributors included Kennedy Hebert, one kill, two blocks and five digs; Kaitlyn Gros, eight digs; and Abby Reynaud, six assists and one dig.
Against South Lafourche, Reynaud had four aces, one kill, one block, 15 assists and one dig, while Hebert had one ace, six kills, one block and eight digs.

Morgan City (2-3) will return to action today when it travels to face Thibodaux in a rematch. Freshman action will begin at 4 p.m., followed by junior varsity and varsity action.
CCHS is 1-3 at tourney
Central Catholic finished 1-3 at Assumption’s tournament, winning their lone game Thursday against South Lafourche before dropping three straight on Saturday in three games.
On Thursday, the Lady Eagles won 2-0 (25-20, 25-20), while on Saturday, they fell to Houma Christian 2-1 (20-25, 25-19, 9-15), Morgan City 2-1 (17-25, 25-23, 12-15) and Thibodaux 2-1 (22-25, 25-23, 4-15).
Against South Lafourche, Brooke Lipari had five digs and three aces, while Lindsee Case had four kills.
Other top contributors included Katie Hoffpauir, seven assists, and Emma Aucoin, seven digs.
No stats were available from the Lady Eagles' other contests.
Central Catholic (2-4) will return to action today when it hosts Central Lafourche. Junior varsity action is set for a 4:30 p.m. start with varsity and freshman action to follow.
