Burchfield earns Coach of the Year to highlight area representation on All-District 9-3A Softball Team

Berwick and Patterson High schools were well represented on the All-District 9-3A first team, while Berwick’s head coach Lloyd Burchfield picked up an individual honor.
Berwick placed eight on the first team, and Patterson had five selections.
Burchfield, who retired following this season, was named the district’s Coach of the Year. He led the Lady Panthers to a 3-1 record in district for a district runner-up finish.
Kali Clement of district champion E.D. White was named the Most Valuable Player.
Individual first-team selections for the Lady Panthers were pitcher Rennen DeLatte, third baseman Madelyn Gros, shortstop Jordan Lipari, outfielders Shannon Theriot and Shelby Bergeron, and utility selections Mary Jordan Melancon, Caroline Osburn and Sydney Aucoin.
For Patterson, first-team selections included pitcher Taylor Hall, outfielder Nia Broussard, utility selections Hailey Sehon and Gaylen Grogan, and designated player Ashlynn Rock.
Second-team selections for the Lady Panthers included second baseman Madeline Hover, outfielder Rosalyn Gros and utility selection Jaci Arnold.
Patterson’s second-team selections are third baseman Casie Boudreaux, shortstop Kayla Wiggins, outfielder Ashley Bonilla and utility selection Tapanga Haven.
Patterson had two honorable mention selections, Emmeli Smith and Bailey Nelson.
Academic All-District also was released.
Berwick had five selections: Theriot, Bergeron, Osburn, McKenzie Baumgartner and DeLatte.
Patterson was represented by Bailey Nelson.
