CCHS beats Hanson 69-54

The Central Catholic Eagles knocked off Hanson Memorial 69-54 in District 7-1A boys’ basketball action in Morgan City Monday.
Central Catholic outscored Hanson in every quarter except the fourth, taking a 16-13 lead after a quarter, a 35-27 lead into halftime and a 54-36 advantage after three quarters.
Jalen Johnson led Central Catholic with 27 points, while Elijah Swan also reached double figures with 18 points.
Other Central Catholic scorers included Davidyionne Bias and Tanner Wiggins, eight points each; Blake Byrne, four; Brooks Thomas, three; and Seth Williams, one.
In the loss, Hanson connected on 11 three-pointers.
Central Catholic (4-11 overall, 2-3 in district) will return to action Friday when it travels to Gueydan for a 7 p.m. contest.
Hanson defeats Lady Eagles
In the girls’ game Tuesday in Morgan City, the Central Catholic Lady Eagles fell to Hanson Memorial, 49-29, in District 7-1A action.
Jalaysia Bertrand led Central Catholic with nine points.
Central Catholic (11-8, 3-4) will return to action Friday when it travels to face Gueydan High School in a 6 p.m. contest. Gueydan is ranked No. 4 in Class 1A, according to the latest Louisiana High School Athletic Association Power Rankings.
Patterson falls to E.D. White
The Patterson Lumberjills fell to E.D. White, 53-29, in Thibodaux Friday in District 8-3A action.
The loss was the first for the Lumberjills in league play as they slipped to 4-1.
Alex Benjamin led Patterson with eight points.
Other scorers included Erykah Singleton, seven; Kem Williams and Nyla Holder, five points each; and Makayla Ruiz and Keonna Johnson, two points each.
Patterson (7-6 overall) will return to action today when it hosts Erath in District 8-3A contest set for 5:30 p.m. Erath is ranked No. 9 in Class 3A in the latest Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 3A power rankings.
