The Central Catholic Lady Eagles capped a perfect District 6-V season Tuesday with a 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-12) victory against West St. John on Senior Night.
Kaitlyn Gros led the Lady Eagles with eight kills, 21 assists and seven digs, while Brittany Longman added seven kills, six digs and three aces.
Other top contributors included Quincee Wiggins, seven kills; and Katie Hoffpauir, four aces.
The Lady Eagles (19-19 overall, 6-0 in district) will conclude their regular season today when they travel to face H.L. Bourgeois. Junior varsity action will begin at 4:30 p.m. with varsity set to follow at 5:30 p.m.
Morgan City falls
at Lutcher
The Morgan City Lady Tigers fell at Lutcher High School 3-0 (19-25, 20-25, 14-25) in District 6-III action Tuesday.
Lutcher entered the contest ranked No. 4 in the latest unofficial Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division III power rankings, while Morgan City was ranked No. 16.
In the loss, Morgan City had 59 digs.
Cecily Feliciano had two aces, four kills, five assists and eight digs to lead Morgan City, while Jaiveianna Jones had nine kills and eight digs.
Other top contributors included Abby Reynaud, one kill, eight assists and nine digs; Brandi Ingram, one kill and 15 digs; Kennedy Hebert, three kills, one assist and seven digs; Alex Thompson, two kills and eight digs; and Dwanna LeBeau, two kills, one block and four digs.
Morgan City (11-19, 4-6) will return to action Saturday when it plays games at 9 a.m. against Thibodaux and at 11 a.m. against Ascension Catholic, both on the road.
