Central Catholic’s Jalen Johnson was named an honorable mention Class 1A All-State selection by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
Johnson, a sophomore, averaged 18.1 points per game and 11.2 rebounds per contest this season.
“He improved as the year went on,” Central Catholic coach Ree Case said today, noting that Johnson really was playing well towards the end of the season, specifically, the team’s playoff games against Christian Life and Hamilton Christian.
Case said Johnson made a “big jump” from his freshman to sophomore year on the court.
“I’m looking forward to him improving over the next two years, and if he can make that same jump in the next two years, he has a chance to be really special,” Case said.
Central Catholic finished its season with a 15-14 record and fell in the second round of the Class 1A playoffs to Hamilton Christian, 61-47.
