CCHS tops Catholic-PC in four

Central Catholic rallied from a one-game deficit against Catholic High-Pointe Coupee for a 3-1 (24-26, 27-25, 25-20, 25-20) victory in volleyball action in Morgan City Monday.
Hallie Autin led Central Catholic with 11 kills and 14 digs, while Quincee Wiggins had six assists.
Other top contributors included Taylor Picou, 10 assists and eight digs; Katie Hoffpauir, 11 assists and three aces; Lindsee Case, nine digs and two blocks; Brooke Lipari, eight digs; and Yani Johnson, three blocks.
On Saturday at H.L. Bourgeois’ tournament, Central Catholic won two of three games, topping South Lafourche 2-0 (25-11, 25-22) and St. James 2-0 (25-10, 25-10) and falling to Hahnville 2-1 (18-25, 29-27, 11-15).
Against South Lafourche, Hoffpauir had nine assists, four digs and three aces, while Autin had five kills and two blocks, and Picou had five assists.
Against St. James, Wiggins had three kills, 10 aces and two digs, while Picou recorded five kills and eight assists, and Autin had five kills.
Against Hahnville, Autin had five kills, while Johnson had six blocks.
Other top contributors included Hoffpauir, seven assists and two aces; and Lipari had nine digs.
Central Catholic (6-8) will return to action Wednesday when it hosts Runnels. Junior varsity action is set for a 4:30 p.m. start with varsity to follow.
Patterson finishes 2-2 at
Brusly tournament
The Patterson Lumberjills finished 2-2 at Brusly’s tournament, falling to Woodlawn and False River but knocking off Livonia and Family Christian.
In all, the Lumberjills served up 35 aces, including 18 against Livonia.
Against Woodlawn, Patterson fell 2-0 (25-18, 25-16)
Arian Grogan led the team with nine kills, four digs and one block, while Tapanga Haven had two digs and 11 assists.
Other top contributors included Madison Paul, three aces and four digs; and Erykah Singleton, one ace, two kills and two blocks.
Against Family Christian, Patterson won 2-1 (25-13, 15-25, 15-11).
Grogan led Patterson with 13 kills, while Paul had four aces and five digs, and Haven had one ace and eight assists.
Against Livonia, Patterson won 2-0 (25-18, 25-3).
Grogan and Paul led Patterson. Grogan had one ace, 13 kills and one block, while Paul had seven aces and six digs.
Other top contributors included Singleton, three aces, one kill and three digs; Haven, one dig and nine assists; and Casie Boudreaux, four aces.
Against False River, Patterson fell 2-1 (23-25, 25-22, 15-17).
Singleton had nine kills and seven digs for Patterson, while Makayla Ruiz had five kills and four digs.
Other top contributors included Haven, one ace, one dig and 12 assists; and Paul, three aces and two digs.
Patterson (3-3) will return to action today when it hosts Berwick in a varsity-only contest set for 4 p.m.
Morgan City freshmen participate in tourney
The Morgan City High School freshmen volleyball team finished 0-3 at St. Amant’s tournament.
Morgan City fell to E.D. White 2-0 (25-13, 25-12), St. Michael the Archangel 2-0 (25-16, 25-21) and Dunham 2-1 (19-25, 25-22, 13-15).
Morgan City will travel to face Delcambre today in freshman, junior varsity and varsity action.
