The Morgan City High School Tigers were defeated by Vandebilt Catholic 11-5 in prep baseball play Wednesday at Tiger Diamond. Marquise Charles attempts to get a hit during game action. The Tigers are in action against Assumption in Napoleonville today with the game scheduled for 4 p.m., weather permitting.

Central Catholic gets win April 22

Central Catholic continued its winning ways beating Ascension Catholic, 4-1, in District 7-1A play Wednesday in Amelia.
CCHS (19-4, 9-1) got three runs in the sixth inning to break open a tied game. Blake Hidalgo pitched a complete game for the win, surrendering an earned run on six hits with five strikeouts and a walk.
Leading hitters for Central Catholic were Mitchell Lemoine, 1-for-3; Thomas Garber, 2-for-3, an RBI; Patrick Barron, 1-for-2, a run; T.J. Ruffin, 1-for-3; Matthew Barbier, 1-for-3, two RBIs; and Samuel Guarisco, a run.
Central Catholic stranded seven players on the base paths.
Central Catholic will host Gueydan (1-13, 0-8) Friday at 6 p.m.
E.D. White 5, Berwick 0
E.D. White shut out Berwick for the second day in a row Wednesday in Thibodaux.
The Cardinals (24-5, 8-0), the District 9-3A leaders, also blanked the Panthers (17-11, 4-3) Tuesday 9-0.
In Wednesday’s game, the Cardinals scored in two innings, two in the third and three in the fourth, and only had two hits in the game.
But Berwick’s pitchers walked four and hit seven batters, which led to five runs.
Andrew Askew suffered the loss, tossing three innings. He surrendered four earned runs while walking three and hitting four batters.
D.J. Robicheaux threw 21/3 innings, giving up one earned run on one hit with a strikeout, a walk and four hit by pitches. Austin Price pitched the last 11/3 innings, allowing a hit with two K’s.
Robicheaux had the only hit in the game for the Panthers.
Berwick will play a continuation game Friday in Patterson.

Morgan City surrendered an early lead Wednesday in District 7-4A at Tiger Diamond.
Ethan Scioneaux took the loss for the Tigers, giving up five runs (four earned) on a hit with three walks in two innings.
Rhett Fryou pitched four innings in relief, giving up two hits and an unearned run.
Leading hitters for Morgan City were Hector Talento, 1-for-1 with an RBI; and Alex Brocato, Matt Lorenzo and Brady Fryou each went 1-for-3.
Morgan City (11-13, 6-4) continues district play today traveling to Napoleonville to face Assumption (10-19, 6-4).
