Central Catholic wins state softball title, defeats Cedar Creek, 6-4

Central Catholic defeated Cedar Creek, 6-4, Saturday to win the Class 1A Louisiana High School Athletic Association softball state title in Sulphur, according to lhsaaonline.org.
The No. 4 seed Eagles defeated No. 1 Catholic High-Point Coupee, 1-0, earlier in the day to advance to the championship against No. 3 Cedar Creek, according to the LHSAA bracket.
In the championship game, Nola.com reported that Central Catholic jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning with Cedar Creek tying the score 2-2 in the bottom of the third.
The Eagles added three more runs in the top of the sixth, while Cedar Creek scored two more runs in the bottom of the inning, Nola.com reported. Central Catholic led 5-4 going into the seventh inning when the Eagles scored another run, Nola.com reported.
Cedar Creek couldn't answer in the bottom of the seventh and Central Catholic held on to claim the state title, Nola.com reported.
