Central Catholic's Jalen Johnson is a Class 1A All-State honorable mention selection

Staff Report

Central Catholic High School’s Jalen Johnson was named an honorable mention selection on the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 1A All-State team.
Johnson, a junior, averaged a double-double this year with per game averages of 22.7 points and 12 rebounds. He also totaled 1.5 blocks a contest.
“Jalen was our best player throughout the year,” Central Catholic coach Ree Case said. “I thought he improved and got better as the year went on, and I thought it was a really good year for him because he was forced to do some things that he didn’t have to do in the last couple years.”
Case said at times Johnson played guard and brought the ball up the court for the Eagles. He said those things improved Johnson’s all-around game.
Central Catholic finished its season with an 11-15 mark, falling in the first round of the playoffs to Crescent City Baptist.
District 7-1A, which Central Catholic competed in, also was represented by a trio of players from district champion Lafayette Christian, which advanced to the state semifinals.
Kalob LeDoux led the group as he was not only named a first-team honoree but also Class 1A’s Outstanding Player. He finished his senior season with per game averages of 21 points, five rebounds and two assists.
His twin brother, Jacob LeDoux, also earned first-team honors after recording per-game averages of 15 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Lafayette Christian sophomore Greg Williams earned second-team honors after averaging 11 points a game.
