Dantzler reportedly pick for 'Jacks' football coach

Staff Report

An Oklahoma high school football coach is in line to be the new head football coach at Patterson High School, according to a report last week in the Tulsa World.
Marvin Dantzler, 36, is resigning as head football coach at Class 6A Booker T. Washington in Tulsa to take the position at Patterson High School, according to an article published on the newspaper’s website Thursday.
Patterson High School Principal Rachael Sanders said Tuesday she could not comment on the report until after Thursday’s St. Mary Parish School Board meeting where her recommendation to the board to replace former coach Chad Blanchard will be considered.
However, the name on the school board’s agenda for Thursday’s meeting is listed as Marvin Dantzler, who the 11-member board will consider for the position of health and physical education teacher and head football coach, effective Monday.
Dantzler, 36, is a Louisiana native who has led Booker T. Washington for the past four seasons, according to the Tulsa World.
He finished with a record of 33-12 at the school and led the school to Class 6A playoff appearances in his first two seasons and consecutive Class 6AII semifinal appearances in 2014 and 2015, the newspaper reported.
Ten of his players signed scholarships last week on national signing day, the article said.
“I’ll be able to go back home and can accomplish everything there that I could here,” Dantzler told the Tulsa World of the Patterson job.
