Halimar Shipyard tops Taco Bell 5-2

Halimar Shipyard (Central Catholic) defeated Taco Bell (Berwick) 5-2 in Swampland baseball action Thursday in Berwick.
Halimar scored all of its runs early with a run in the first and two each in the second and third innings.
Taco Bell (5-3) got on the scoreboard with two runs in the fifth.
Halimar (3-3) outhit Taco Bell 7-1.
Charlie Solar earned the victory on the mound as he worked five innings and surrendered two runs.
Offensively, Thomas Mire and Drake Angeron led Halimar as Mire was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, while Angeron was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
Cameron Wiley had Taco Bell’s lone hit as he finished 1-for-3 with a double, while Tanner Caldwell and Collin Kulka each recorded an RBI.
D.J. Robicheaux suffered the loss for Taco Bell.
In junior varsity action, Taco Bell won 8-1.
Patrick Robertson earned the win on the mound.
At the plate, Robertson, Lucas Hatch, Zeph Hoffpauir, Mitchell Sanford, Seth Giroir and Rustin Ratcliff each recorded an RBI.
The two teams will return to the field Monday when they meet in Amelia. Junior varsity action is set for a 5 p.m. start with varsity to follow at 7 p.m.
Skipper’s game canceled
Skipper’s Sporting Goods’ (Morgan City) game with Crawdaddy’s Seafood (Houma Christian) was canceled.
Skipper’s (2-3) will return to the field Monday when it faces Crawdaddy’s Seafood in Morgan City. Junior varsity is set for a 5 p.m. start with varsity to follow at 7 p.m.
