Morgan City advanced to the championship game of its Tiger Classic after routing South Terrebonne, 77-42, on Tuesday.
The Tigers broke away in the second half, turning a 27-20 halftime advantage into a rout.
Morgan City outscored South Terrebonne 28-12 in the third quarter for a 55-32 advantage before adding a 22-10 fourth-quarter edge on the scoreboard.
Cedric Gant led Morgan City with 20 points, while Taaj Daniels had 19 points. Kerwin Francois and Makye Richard each added nine points in the victory.
Morgan City (4-1) and Central Lafourche will meet today at 6:30 p.m. in the finals.
The day’s action will begin with a 2 p.m. contest between West St. Mary and Grace King, while at 3:30 p.m., Thibodaux will meet South Terrebonne in the third-place game.
At 5 p.m., Lafayette High will face David Thibodaux in the consolation final.
CHNI edges Berwick
Catholic High of New Iberia edged Berwick High School 42-41 at Ascension Episcopal’s tournament Tuesday.
While Berwick entered the fourth quarter leading 37-35, Catholic High outscored the Panthers 7-4 in the final period for the victory.
Catholic High took a 10-7 lead after one period of play, while Berwick took a 24-22 lead at the half after outscoring Catholic High 17-12 in the second quarter.
No individual stats were available.
Berwick will return to action in Ascension Episcopal’s tournament today when it faces host Ascension Episcopal in a 6 p.m. contest.
