MCHS, CCHS in action at meet

Morgan City and Central Catholic high schools’ swim teams were in action Tuesday in Lafayette.
Morgan City placed seventh in girls’ action with three points, sixth in boys’ action with 10 points and eight in combined points with 13.
Central Catholic didn’t record any points.
Morgan City’s Ethan Aucoin’s time in the 100-yard backstroke qualified him for Division 3 state competition at the Louisiana High School Athletic Association state swim meet in November.
Aucoin finished fourth in the event at 1:14.80.
Morgan City coach Becky Bergeron said other swimmers on the Morgan City swim team were close to qualifying for state as well with their performances Tuesday.
“I am proud of how these team members have worked hard to meet their goals in swimming for MCHS,” Bergeron said.
Also on Tuesday, Central Catholic's William Hunter qualified for the Division IV state meet with his time in the 50-yard freestyle. Hunter finished 21st with a time of 31.72.
On Monday at a meet in Bayou Black, Central Catholic's David Nugent also posted a state-qualifying time in the 50-yard freestyle.
Ascension Episcopal won the girls’ team title with 103 points, while St. Louis took top honors in the boys’ competition with 134 points.
St. Louis was tops in combined scoring with 213 points.
