MCHS, CCHS advance to girls basketball postseason

Two Morgan City-based basketball teams were among those to make the postseason when the girls’ basketball brackets were released this afternoon by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association.
Central Catholic (24-3) made the postseason as the No. 2 team in Class 1A, while Morgan City (14-9) was the No. 31 seed in Class 4A.
Central Catholic’s first-round game already has been set. The Lady Eagles will host No. 31 seed Logansport (10-13) Thursday at 6 p.m.
Morgan City’s first-round contest against No. 2 Warren Easton (30-3) has not been set.
First-round games must be played by Thursday.
This year marks the first time since 2009 that Morgan City has advanced to the postseason in girls’ basketball.
Central Catholic has made trips to the postseason in recent years, including a Class 1A semifinal appearance a year ago.
