MCHS finishes 1-3 at Newman tournament

The Morgan City Lady Tigers finished 1-3 at Isidore Newman’s tournament this weekend in New Orleans.

The Lady Tigers fell to St. Scholastica and Isidore Newman Friday and won their opening game Saturday against Westminster Christian before falling to Ascension Episcopal in its tournament finale.

In the Lady Tigers’ 8-25, 20-25 loss to St. Scholastica, Layne Reynaud had one ace, one kill, four assists and two digs for the Lady Tigers, while Savannah Loupe had two kills and 11 digs and Kloé Liner, one ace, one kill and five digs.

Other top contributors included Jaiveianna Jones, three kills and one dig; Marilynn Bailey, two kills and five digs; Brandi Ingram, two aces and four digs; and Taylor Prince, six digs.

In the Lady Tigers’ 6-25, 19-25 loss to Newman, Jones had seven kills for the Lady Tigers, while Reynaud recorded one kill, seven assists and one dig; and Liner, three kills and four digs.

Other top contributors for the Lady Tigers included Cecily Feliciano, one ace, one assist and three digs; Bailey, seven digs; and Loupe, five digs.

In the Lady Tigers’ 25-16, 25-7 win against Westminster Christian, Reynaud recorded three aces, two kills, 14 assists and two digs, while Prince contributed five aces, one kill, one assist and two digs.

Other top contributors included Jones, six kills; Bailey, one ace, two kills, one assist and eight digs; and Liner, two aces, five kills and one dig.

In the Lady Tigers’ 19-25, 9-25 loss to Ascension Episcopal, Jones had eight kills, while Reynaud added one kill, nine assists and four digs.

Other top contributors included Prince, one kill, one assist and three digs; and Liner, one ace, one kill and two digs.

Morgan City (7-15) will return to action today when it travels to face Lutcher in district play. Freshmen, junior varsity and varsity action all will be held, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
