MCHS routs Teurlings Catholic 73-37
Morgan City High School routed Teurlings Catholic 73-37 in nondistrict action Monday in Morgan City.
The Tigers jumped out to a 21-5 lead after the first quarter, extended it to 34-12 at the half and 49-25 after three quarters.
Tywan Walker led three Morgan City scorers in double figures with 17 points, while Makye Richard scored 15 and Jared Singleton added 12.
Other scorers included Lloyd Singleton, eight; Ke’Sean Francois, six; Deonte Green and Zion Landry, four each; DeAndre Long, Taaj Daniels and Kerwin Francois, two apiece; and Ronnell Williams, one.
Morgan City (7-5) will return to action Thursday when it opens play in the Advance Physical Therapy Lumberjack Invitational at Patterson High School against St. Martinville at 3:30 p.m.
Lutcher downs
Berwick
Lutcher High School used a big fourth quarter to pull away from Berwick for a 76-56 victory in Lutcher.
Leading 49-45 entering the fourth quarter, Lutcher outscored Berwick 27-11 in the final period for the victory.
Berwick trailed just 57-50 with 4:48 remaining before Lutcher pulled away.
Lutcher hit 12 three-pointers in the win.
The Bulldogs took a 17-7 lead after a quarter and led Berwick 33-24 at the half.
Berwick cut its lead to 49-45 heading into the fourth.
Audwin Williams led Berwick with 17 points, while he also had six rebounds and three assists.
Other contributors included Kenan Jones, 13 points, six rebounds, two blocks and one assist; Donald Tillman, seven points, four rebounds, one steal and five assists; Silton Span, six points; Tysin Meads, five points, 12 rebounds, one block and five assists; Cody Roberie, three points, one rebound and one steal; Andrew Askew, three points; and Travis Whitehead, two points, four rebounds, two blocks and two assists.
Berwick (8-4) will return to action Thursday when it begins play in the Advance Physical Therapy Lumberjack Invitational with a 6:30 p.m. contest against Central Catholic.
CCHS returns
to action today
Central Catholic (1-1) will return to action today when it hosts H.L. Bourgeois in its 6 p.m. home opener.
The game will be broadcast on KBZE 105.9 FM and KFRA 1390 AM.
The CCHS girls split weekend games.
The Central Catholic Lady Eagles split their weekend games at Vandebilt Catholic’s Jack Becker Classic, topping Terrebonne, 48-33, Friday and falling to E.D. White, 37-31, Saturday.
Against Terrebonne, Hallie Autin led the Lady Eagles with 24 points, while Lydia Rivas scored 16.
In Saturday’s loss, Rivas led Central Catholic with 14 points, while Autin scored 11.
Central Catholic (6-3) will return to action Thursday when it begins District 7-1A play at Ascension Episcopal in a 4 p.m. contest.
