Morgan City, Berwick find out Bi-Regional opponents

The Morgan City Lady Tigers and the Berwick Panthers have learned their opponents at the state’s western bowling bi-regional that begins
Monday at Lafayette Lanes in Lafayette.
Morgan City (12-1) is the No. 5 seed and, along with its opponent, No. 4 seed Central Lafourche (12-1), received a first-round bye. The teams will play at 1 p.m. Monday.
Morgan City was the District Champion from District 2 of its region, while Central Lafourche was co-district champion with Ellender, who also has advanced to the Bi-Regional round as the No. 3 seed.
The winner of the Morgan City-Central Lafourche contest will advance to a 3:30 p.m. final against either No. 8 Alexandria, No. 9 H.L. Bourgeois or No. 1 Parkway.
Two teams from the 11-team Bi-Regional will advance to the state semifinals, which will be held April 8 at All Star Lanes in Baton Rouge.
On the boys side, Berwick (9-4) is the No. 12 seed and will meet No. 5 Parkway in a 10:45 a.m. contest Monday. Berwick was the co-district champion from District 3 of its region along with Houma Christian.
The winner will face the victor of the match between No. 4 Barbe and No. 13 Acadiana at 1 p.m. The Bi-Regional finals will be held at 3:30 p.m.
Two schools out of the 13-team Bi-Regional will advance to the state semifinals, which will be held at All Star Lanes in Baton Rouge April 8.
Additionally, singles bowlers from Morgan City and Central Catholic will participate in Bi-Regional action Monday. Central Catholic’s Josh Abney and Morgan
City’s Jayson Hidalgo will be in action as both look to continue their postseasons and advance to the semifinals in Baton Rouge.
