Morgan City falls to E.D. White in three games

Morgan City fell to E.D. White 3-0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-19) Monday in District 8-III action in Thibodaux.
Kennedy Hebert had six kills, two blocks and six digs to lead Morgan City, while Allie Vincent added nine assists and 12 digs.
Other top contributors included Abby Reynaud, two kills, six assists and seven digs; Cecily Feliciano, two aces, four kills and five digs; Katelyn Gautreaux, one assist and seven digs; Mackenzie Smith, five digs; and Sh’diamond Holly, two kills and two blocks.
In junior varsity action, Morgan City fell 2-0 (25-12, 25-16).
Vincent led Morgan City with one ace, one assist and seven digs, while Faith Crappell and Smith each had one ace and six digs.
Other top contributors included Holly, two kills and one dig; and Karmen Peterson, two kills.
In freshman action, Morgan City won 2-0 (28-26, 25-19).

Jolee Nini led the squad with three aces, one kill, four assists and two digs.
Other top contributors included Hannah Prado, two aces, one kill and nine digs; Peterson, two aces, two kills, one block and one dig; Nia Lightfoot, one kill, three blocks and two digs; and Daysha Tivet, five digs.
Morgan City (10-19 overall, 2-6 in district) will return to action Friday when it begins play in Episcopal of Baton Rouge’s tournament.
Berwick falls to Newman
Newman swept Berwick 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-9) in nondistrict volleyball action in New Orleans Tuesday.
Newman entered the game ranked No. 9 in Division IV, while Berwick is ranked No. 16 in Division III.
As a team, Berwick had six aces.
Ashton Morales led the Lady Panthers with two aces, five kills, one block, four assists and 11 digs.
Other top contributors included Mary Jordan Melancon, one ace, seven assists and six digs; Brittany Roberie, 15 digs; Jordan Lipari, two kills and 12 digs; Sydney Aucoin, four kills, two blocks and three digs; Emma Hover, one ace and six digs; and Rosalyn Gros, two aces and five digs.
In junior varsity action, Berwick fell to Newman 2-1 (25-23, 23-25, 7-15).
Berwick had seven aces and 61 digs in the loss.
Hannah Henry led Berwick with one kill, one assist and 12 digs, while Maci Broussard had 17 digs.

Berwick (13-18) will return to action Thursday when it hosts Patterson for Senior Night. Junior varsity action will begin at 4:30 p.m. with varsity to follow at 5:30 p.m. A senior presentation will be held before the varsity contest.
CCHS beats West St. John
Central Catholic closed District 6-V action Tuesday with a win against West St. John in three sets, 25-8, 25-6, 25-10.
Quincee Wiggins led Central Catholic with six kills, 10 aces and two digs, while Hallie Autin had nine kills and two aces.
Other top contributors included Katie Hoffpauir, 12 assists, four aces and two digs; and Taylor Picou, eight assists and four aces.
Central Catholic (17-21, 4-2) will return to action Thursday when it hosts H.L. Bourgeois in a varsity-only contest set for 4:30 p.m. The contest also will serve as Senior Night.
