Panthers continue win streak, defeat Blue Gators 42-36

Audwin Williams led Berwick High School to a double-overtime win over Ascension Episcopal, 42-36, Thursday in Lafayette. The senior had 14 points and seven rebounds to pace the Panthers.
Berwick (8-2) has won three games in a row.
Kenan Jones also joined Williams in double figures with 10 points. The junior had seven rebounds with a block, a steal and an assist in the teams defeat of the Blue Gators.
Others leaders for BHS were Cody Roberie with five points, a rebound, a steal and an assist while Larenz Clark also had five points with three rebounds and two steals.
Travis Whitehead added four points with two rebounds and two blocks. Tysin Meads chipped in with two points, eight rebounds, four blocks and an assist, while Silton Span added two points with a rebound and a steal.
Berwick also upended St. Johns of Plaquemine, 55-27, at home Tuesday.
Williams again led the Panthers with 19 points, three rebounds and an assist. The standout senior averaged nearly 17 points per game (16.5) in the Panthers’ wins.
Berwick won three of four games at the Terrebonne Tournament last week.
In girls action, Ascension Episcopal upended Berwick, 48-23.
The leading scorers for the Lady Panthers were Madison Carline with nine points while Jordan Lipari and Mary Jordan Melancon added five points each.
Berwick returns to the hardwood Friday hosting Christian Life.
The boys’ junior varsity game begins at 5:15 p.m. followed by the girls’ varsity game and the boys’ varsity, respectively.
In action tonight, the Central Catholic High School Lady Eagles will take on Vandebilt Catholic in the Vandy tournament and the Morgan City High School Lady Tigers will be in action against Ellender in the Hahnville tournament.
