Patterson, Morgan City and Berwick all victorious

The Patterson Lumberjills knocked off Highland Baptist 3-2 (25-19, 24-26, 25-17, 21-25, 15-9) in volleyball action Tuesday.
The Lumberjills excelled at the serving line as they recorded 23 aces.
Juniors Gaylen Grogan and Arian Grogan each had nine aces in the win. Gaylen Grogan also had 16 points, 10 kills, two digs and two blocks, while Arian Grogan added seven points, eight kills, four digs and five blocks.
Other top contributors included junior Nia Broussard, two aces, two points, two digs and 20 assists; senior Nyria Robinson, two aces, six points, two kills and eight digs; sophomore Makayla Ruiz, two kills, five digs and two assists; senior Jazmin Evans, one kill and 10 digs; junior Tamia Washington, one ace, seven points and three kills; and senior Tye Williams, seven digs.
In junior varsity action, Patterson fell 2-0 (16-25, 9-25).
Freshman Morgan Jones led the Lumberjills with an ace, four points, one kill and two digs, while freshman Tapanga Haven had an ace, three points and two assists.
Other top contributors included sophomore Erykah Singleton, two kills, and freshman Maya Madise, two digs.
Patterson (2-0) will return to action today when it hosts West St. Mary. Junior varsity action is set for a 4 p.m. start with varsity to follow at 5 p.m.
Morgan City defeats
New Iberia
The Morgan City Lady Tigers defeated New Iberia 3-1 (25-6, 23-25, 25-21, 25-17) Tuesday in Morgan City.
Senior Jaiveianna Jones led the Lady Tigers with two aces, 14 kills, one assist and eight digs, while junior Cecily Feliciano had two aces, 10 assists and nine digs.
Other top contributors included freshman Kennedy Hebert, four aces, three kills, one block and 12 digs; junior Alex Thompson, eight kills and one block; junior Karley Guidry, four aces, 16 assists and three digs; and senior Brandi Ingram, three aces and 12 digs.
In junior varsity action, Morgan City was victorious 25-22, 25-14.
The Lady Tigers recorded 20 aces in the contest, led by nine from sophomore Paige Loftin.
Loftin also had two kills.
Other top contributors for Morgan City were sophomore Brandi Albarado, five aces; freshman Allie Vincent, three aces and one assist; sophomore Twanna LeBeau, two kills; sophomore Abby Reynaud, one kill and three assists; and sophomore Faith Crappell, one ace, one kill and one dig.
In freshman action, Morgan City won 26-24, 25-18.
The Lady Tigers again had a solid day from the service line as the team totaled 14 aces, led by five apiece from Hailey Lewis and Alaysia Williams.
Lewis also added five kills, and one dig, while Williams had two kills.
Other top contributors included Matti Rivere, three kills and two digs; Scottie Metrejean, three aces, one assist and one dig; Gabrielle Guarisco, one kill and three assists; and Abigail Landry, two digs.
Berwick defeats
Terrebonne in four games
The Berwick Lady Panthers defeated Terrebonne 3-1 (25-14, 25-21, 13-25, 25-22) in Berwick Tuesday.
Junior Ashton Morales, sophomore Mary Jordan Melancon and senior Abigail Askew led the Lady Panthers in the contest.
Morales finished with four aces, eight kills, one block, 13 assists and 13 digs; Melancon, two aces, two kills, two blocks, 12 assists and five digs; and Askew, 12 kills and two blocks.
Other top contributors included senior Hannah Carpenter, two aces, two kills, one assist and 14 digs; sophomore Jordan Lipari, three kills, five assists and three digs; sophomore Sydney Aucoin, two aces, five kills and two digs; and senior Rennen DeLatte and sophomore Roslyn Gros, one ace and seven digs apiece.
Berwick (5-2) will return to action Thursday when it travels to Bourg to face South Terrebonne in junior varsity, varsity and freshman action. Junior varsity action will begin at 4 p.m., followed by varsity and freshman action, respectively.
Central Catholic falls
to John Curtis
John Curtis defeated Central Catholic 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-4) in Morgan City Wednesday.
Sophomore Hallie Autin and senior Kaitlyn Gros led the Lady Eagles. Autin had three kills, one ace, seven digs and seven solo blocks, while Gros had one kill, four assists and 15 digs.
Other top contributors included sophomore Rebecca David, seven solo blocks; senior Brittany Longman, one kill and 11 digs; junior Samantha Willoughby, 10 digs; and sophomore Emma Aucoin, six digs.
Central Catholic (2-4) will return to action today when it travels to face Lutcher High School, a Division 3 state semifinalist a year ago.
