Sleds await players, pads practice starts Aug. 10

Football practice fields are at a standstill, but not for long. Practices will start soon and the first day in pads is set for Aug. 10. Area high school teams will begin with jamboree action. Morgan City High School will hold its annual jamboree on Aug. 28 at Tiger Stadium hosting Berwick and Patterson high schools and Covenant Christian from Houma. Central Catholic High School will play in the Kiwanis St. Thomas More Jamboree at 8 p.m. Aug. 28 against Catholic High — New Iberia. The season openers include Central Catholic at St. John Plaquemine at 7 p.m. Sept. 3, Morgan City and Berwick meeting at Tiger Stadium at 7 p.m. Sept. 4, and Patterson playing at Central Lafourche in Raceland at 7 p.m. Sept. 4.
