Taco Bell tops Halimar, 4-1

Taco Bell defeated Halimar Shipyard, 4-1, in Swampland baseball action in Berwick Wednesday.
Taco Bell (Berwick) pitchers Grant Oubre and Patrick Robertson combined to surrender just one hit. Oubre earned the win. In six innings, he surrendered one hit, walked two and fanned one. Robertson pitched an inning of relief and surrendered an unearned run and one walk.
Taco Bell took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third and extended its lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the fifth.
Halimar (Central Catholic) scored its lone run in the top of the seventh.
Offensively, Reid Wiley led Taco Bell with a 2-for-3 performance with a double and three RBIs, while Kyle Pitre was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a stolen base.
Bryce Grizzaffi suffered the loss for Halimar. In four innings, he surrendered two runs — both earned — on four hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
Phillip Guarisco had Halimar’s lone hit as he finished 1-for-2.
In junior varsity action, Taco Bell won 5-1.
While Halimar took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, Taco Bell responded with four runs in the bottom of the second and another in the bottom of the third for the final margin.
Brett Williams earned the complete-game victory. In 4.2 innings, he surrendered one earned run on two hits with one walk, two hit batters and three strikeouts.
Offensively, Taco Bell outhit Halimar, 5-2.
Eric Guillot led Taco Bell with a 1-for-1 performance with a double, two RBIs and a run. Other top offensive contributors included Brett Williams, 1-for-1, a double and a run; Adam Askew, 1-for-2, a double and an RBI; Reed Gonzales, 1-for-2, an RBI and a run; and Luke Boudreaux, 1-for-2, an RBI.
Taco Bell’s scheduled game today at TrimCo Millwork & Supply (Patterson) has been cancelled. Taco Bell (9-2) now will return to action Monday when it hosts BCG Services (Covenant Christian). Junior varsity action is set for a 5 p.m. start with varsity to follow at 7 p.m.
Halimar Shipyard (2-8) will hit the field again today when it hosts Praxair (H.L. Bourgeois) in a varsity-only contest set for 5:30 p.m.
TrimCo Millwork (1-9) won’t return to action until Monday when it hosts Halimar Shipyard. Junior varsity action is set for a 5 p.m. start with varsity to follow at 7 p.m.
