Tigers finish weekend 1-1 in Centerville

Morgan City finished 1-1 this weekend at Centerville’s Tournament of the Teche, falling to E.D. White Friday and defeating Jeanerette Saturday.
Friday, Morgan City fell to E.D. White, 62-53.
While Morgan City outscored E.D. White 19-15 in the first quarter, E.D. White countered with a 15-7 second-quarter advantage for a 30-26 halftime lead. Morgan City trailed 44-43 after three quarters, but E.D. White outscored the Tigers, 18-10, in the final period for the win.
Taaj Daniels led Morgan City with 15 points, while Jared Singleton also reached double figures with 12. Other scorers included Morrquise Charles and Makye Richard, nine points each; Ke’Sean Francois and Deondre Grogan, three each; and Kerwin Francois, two.
Saturday, Morgan City defeated Jeanerette, 84-65.
Morgan City led 19-11 after a quarter of play, 43-37 at halftime and 62-52 after three quarters.
Ke’Sean Francois led Morgan City with 16 points. Other scorers included Richard, 13; Singleton, 12; Daniels, 10; Grogan, Charles and Tywaun Walker, nine each; Devonte Grogan, four; and Kerwin Francois, two.
Morgan City (6-2) will return to action Tuesday when it travels to face Plaquemine.
Patterson drops two at Port Allen tourney
The Patterson Lumberjacks fell to St. Michael the Archangel and Brusly, Thursday and Saturday, respectively, at Port Allen’s tournament.
Thursday against St. Michael, Patterson fell 63-49.
St. Michael outscored Patterson in every quarter and led 18-14 after a period of play, 28-21 at halftime and 46-35 after three quarters.
Tyric Garrett and Jordan Butler led Patterson with nine points apiece. Other scorers included John Brooks and Dajon Richard with eight points each, Elijah Williams, four; Drew Lucas, Titus Dewey and Kai Schexnayder, three each; and James Butler, two.
Saturday against Brusly, Patterson fell 57-51.
While Patterson led 10-8 after a quarter, Brusly outscored the Lumberjacks 17-8 in the second period for a 25-18 halftime advantage. Patterson trailed 42-38 after three quarters and each team scored 13 points in the final period.
Schexnayder led Patterson with 17 points, while Williams also reached double figures with 12 points. Other scorers included Butler and Richard, eight points apiece; Garrett, four; and Brooks, two.
Schexnayder was named to the All-Tournament team.
Patterson (1-2) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts Breaux Bridge. Junior varsity action is set for a 6 p.m. start with varsity to follow.
Berwick goes 0-2 at
Terrebonne’s tourney
Berwick finished the weekend 0-2 at Terrebonne’s tournament, falling to South Lafourche Friday and Helen Cox Saturday.
Friday, Berwick fell to South Lafourche, 39-29, while Saturday, Helen Cox defeated Berwick, 60-57.
No individual statistics were available for either game.
Berwick (5-3) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts Catholic High-New Iberia.
