Tigers tennis team gains experience at state tourney

Morgan City High School’s Harleigh Price soundly defeated Alex Andrews of Benton in two sets, 6-0 and 6-1, in her opening round of play at the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Tennis State Championships in Division II on Thursday. She was edged out of the tournament in her second-round match against Ciara White of Haughton in two sets, 3-6 and 4-6.
In doubles action, Niki Ring and Jamie Scioneaux lost in the first round to the Grayson/Strawn duo from St. Scholastica Academy, 3-6 and 0-6. Bailee Hoggatt and Krystina Pitre were eliminated in the first round by the doubles team of St. Thomas More, 0-6 and 0-6.
“I was very excited for them,” said Coach Kelly Jo Aucoin. “It was great for them as a young team to get the exposure at the state tournament and see the competition that the future holds for us.”
