Trio of Tri-City area teams advance to postseason

It's been a foregone conclusion for a few weeks now, but now it's official: the Berwick High School Panthers have advanced to the postseason for the first time in 20 years, qualifying as the area's highest seed at No. 11 in Class 3A.
The Panthers (8-2), which edged North Vermilion, 31-30; Friday, will host No. 22 Brusly (7-3) this Friday at 7 p.m.
Meanwhile, Patterson also qualified for the Class 3A playoffs as the No. 28 seed, while Central Catholic is the No. 12 seed in Division IV. Patterson (3-7) will travel to No. 5 Marksville (9-1) Friday at 7 p.m., while Central Catholic will travel to No. 5 Lafayette Christian (7-3) Friday. Central Catholic closed the regular season with a heartbreaking 42-41 loss to Ascension Episcopal, while Franklin defeated Patterson, 28-20, in Week 10 action.
