CCHS wins, to host Pink Game

Central Catholic swept South Lafourche at home Wednesday 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-18).
Quincee Wiggins led Central Catholic with five kills, seven aces and eight digs, while Hallie Autin added seven kills.
Other top contributors included Taylor Picou, 11 assists; Brooke Lipari, nine digs; Katie Hoffpauir, six assists; and Emma Aucoin, three aces.
Central Catholic (12-17) will return to action today when it hosts Houma Christian in the Lady Eagles’ District 6-V opener.
The game also will be the Lady Eagles’ Pink Game.
Action will begin at 3 p.m. when Central Catholic’s junior high program gets underway with a fifth- and sixth-grade Red and White game in which the squad will play each other, followed by the school’s junior high facing Houma Christian at 4 p.m.
At 5 p.m., the Lady Eagles’ junior varsity squad will meet Houma Christian, followed by a 6 p.m. meeting between the two schools in varsity. Houma Christian is ranked No. 6 in the latest Division V power rankings, while Central Catholic is No. 14.
Morgan City defeats Franklin
Morgan City High School defeated Franklin 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-4) in District 8-III action played at Centerville Wednesday.
Morgan City had 14 aces in the win.
Kennedy Hebert led the squad with two aces, nine kills, three blocks, one assist and six digs.
Other top contributors included Abby Reynaud, two aces, 13 assists and nine digs; Alex Thompson, seven kills and one dig; Allie Vincent, two aces, six assists and six digs; Mackenzie Smith, five aces and 11 digs; Brandi Albarado, one ace, one kill, and eight digs; Dwanna LeBeau, two aces, two kills and five digs; and Katelyn Gautreaux, six digs.
In junior varsity action, Morgan City won 2-0 (25-4, 25-6).
Morgan City had 18 aces in the victory.
Vincent and Hailey Lewis led the squad as Vincent had five aces, three assists and one dig, while Lewis recorded eight aces and one kill.
Other top contributors included Kaitlyn Gros, five aces and one dig, and Paige Loftin, three kills, one assist and two digs.
In freshman action, Morgan City defeated Franklin 2-0 (25-8, 25-8). The Lady Tigers had a solid serving game with 21 aces.
Hannah Prado and Jolee Nini led the squad as Prado had seven aces, one block and two digs, while Nini had one ace, one kill, one assist and three digs.
Other top contributors included Kayla Barrow, seven aces; Gracie Gros, four aces; and Nia Lightfoot, two kills and one dig.
Morgan City (9-13 overall, 1-2 in district) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts E.D. White in district action. Freshmen action will begin at 3:30 p.m., followed by junior varsity at 4:30 p.m. and varsity at 5:30 p.m.
Berwick falls to E.D. White
Berwick fell to E.D. White in District 8-III action in Thibodaux Wednesday.
Ashton Morales led Berwick with three kills, three blocks, three assists and 10 digs.
Other top contributors included Sydney Aucoin, four kills, one block and two digs; Mary Jordan Melancon, two kills, one assist and five digs; Brittany Roberie, one ace and 12 digs; Rosalyn Gros, one kill and six digs; and Jordan Lipari, two aces.
In junior varsity action, Berwick fell 2-0 (25-11, 25-16), while in freshman action, the Lady Panthers fell 2-0 (25-19, 25-21).
Berwick (9-11, 2-2) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts Thibodaux. Junior varsity action will begin at 4 p.m., followed by varsity at 5 p.m. and freshman action at 6 p.m.
