Central Catholic has 8 on All-District 7-1A first team

Central Catholic High School placed eight football players on the All-District 7-1A first team, including the district’s Defensive Most Valuable Player.
Senior Gregory Leger, who made the first team at the Flex position, is the league’s Defensive MVP.
He is joined on defensive top squad by teammates, senior defensive lineman Jesse Fontenot, senior linebacker Blake Hidalgo and senior defensive back Ja’len Johnson.
Offensively, the Eagles had four more first-team selections: senior wide receiver Samarick Paul, junior running back Chris Singleton, senior offensive lineman Thomas Garber and senior utility selection Bailey Badeaux.
Central Catholic had seven second-team selections.
Defensively, the Eagles were represented on the line by freshman Kaden Scott and junior Drake Boudreaux, at linebacker by junior Dominic Skipper, in the secondary by sophomore defensive back DeDe Gant and at punter by Garber.
Offensively, senior quarterback Blake Byrne made the second team along with senior offensive lineman Mitchel Lemoine.
The Eagles’ honorable mention representatives were: junior defensive back Tyler O’Con, junior defensive lineman Isaiah Skipper, junior linebacker Cooper Leblanc, freshman linebacker Nathan Hebb, junior offensive lineman Ethan Whittington, freshman offensive lineman Michael-Anthony Hill and junior wide receiver Cade Minton.
Ascension Episcopal junior Jake Vascocu was the district’s Offensive MVP, while Ascension Episcopal head coach Matt Desormeaux was name the league’s Coach of the Year.
