Franklin All-Stars begin play at World Series Saturday

The Franklin 10-year-old All-Stars will attempt to bring home a world series title when it begins play in the AAA Dixie Youth World Series in Laurel, Mississippi, beginning Saturday.
The event, which will run through Thursday, features 12 teams who will compete in a double-elimination bracket. In addition to Franklin – Louisiana’s representative – other participants include state champions from Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, Florida, Texas, North Carolina, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas and host Laurel, Mississippi.
Franklin will open tournament play Saturday at 5:45 p.m. against the Florida state champion at Metal Masters Field.
Games will be played at Metal Masters Field and Laurel Ford Field through the semifinals.
The finals will be held on Howards Field.
Franklin enters the world series with a 10-2 combined mark in district, south regional and state tournament series play.
Franklin finished 3-0 at the District 3 tournament, 5-1 at the south regional tournament and 2-1 at the state tournament series. The St. Mary Parish squad’s lone losses were to Mamou in the first game of the championship series at the south regional and to West Carroll in the first game of the state tournament best, two-out-of three series in Alexandria.
Combined in district, regional and state tournament play, Franklin has outscored its opponents 96-54.
Team members include: Gabe Hebert, Alonzo Alexander, Nick Mire, Ethan Judice, Dylan Inzina, Loren Wells, Carter Faucheaux, Daniel Ibert, Dylan Steiner, Landon Walden, Reid Lovell, John David Hidalgo and Evan Louivere (alternate).
The team is coached by Clint Judice and Bucky Lovell.
