Franklin, Ville Platte lead Minors Regionals

Franklin and Ville Platte 10U teams remain undefeated in the South and North regionals of Louisiana Dixie Youth baseball through three days of play in Morgan City.
Franklin has outscored opponents 21-5 through three games, knocking off East Ouachita Friday, DeQuincy Saturday, and most recently, St. Mary Central Sunday in a battle of unbeaten teams in the winner’s bracket.
Franklin will return to the field today when it again faces East Ouachita in a 7:30 p.m. contest.
A win would put Franklin in Tuesday’s South Regional final, while a loss would leave Franklin, East Ouachita and the winner of the St. Mary Central/Mamou contest today at 5:30 p.m. with one loss apiece, forcing a bye to be drawn to advance to the title game Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., while the other two teams would play beforehand at 5:30 p.m. to advance to the final.
In the North Regional, Ville Platte has outscored opponents 26-8 en route to today’s fourth round. Ville Platte knocked off West Carrol, 10-4, Friday; host Morgan City, 6-4, Saturday; and Minden 10-0, Sunday.
Ville Platte will take on West Carrol again today at 7:30 p.m.
