Franklin wins District 3-AA championship

After posting a perfect 4-0 record, the Franklin All-Stars hoisted the 2016 District 3-AA 8-year-old Pitching Machine Championship trophy Saturday at Caffery Park.
Franklin, which finished in first place with a perfect 4-0 record, knocked off Morgan City in Saturday’s third contest by a 17-10 margin.
Action opened in Saturday’s final day of action with Morgan City winning over St. Mary Central by a score of 21-11; Thibodaux earned an 8-1 victory over Patterson in Game 2. Franklin captured the District 3-AA Championship following a 17-10 win over Morgan City before St. Mary Central rallied for an 8-7 win over Patterson.
The Franklin All-Stars roster is composed of: Luke Spangler; Riley Hebert; Kaden Legnon; Daylan George; Trey Edmond; Jaxon Frederick; Tino Lopez; Taylon LaCoste; Bryson Broussard; Trey Frost; Owen Vaccarella and Ethan Clements. Coaches are Morty Frederick; Paul Frost; Jamon Vaccarella and Eric Clements.
In Friday’s action, St. Mary Central claimed a 9-2 victory over Thibodaux in the opener.
Franklin kept its perfect record intact with an 11-0 triumph over Patterson.
Saturday’s action featured the District 3-AA Championship battle between Franklin and Morgan City in the third contest of the day.
In the opener, Morgan City turned back St. Mary Central by a score of 21-11 to move to 3-0 in the tournament. In Game 2 on Saturday, Thibodaux pounded Patterson by an 8-1 margin.
In the battle for the 2016 District 3-AA Championship, Franklin grabbed an early lead and held on for a 17-10 victory over Morgan City.
Franklin and Morgan City headed into Saturday’s final day of action with identical 3-0 won-loss records.

With the win, the Franklin All-Stars strung together an impeccable 4-0 record for first place while the Morgan City All-Stars took the District 3-AA runnerup spot with a 3-1 overall mark.
In the final game of the tournament, St. Mary Central staged a dramatic come-from-behind 8-7 victory over Patterson.
District 3 Director Seth Thomas and Franklin Board Member Eric Clements passed out medals to every member of the Franklin, Morgan City, St. Mary Central and Patterson teams.
The first place and second place trophies were also handed to the Franklin Franklin and Morgan City teams.
Franklin and Morgan City will advance to the State Tournament which will be held at Beidenhorne Park in West Monroe, Louisiana on July 7, 8, 9 and 10.
