Kenny Roy Invite begins today

The 14th annual Kenny Roy “Play for a Cure” invitational will be held today through Sunday at the Bayou Vista Community Center.
The event will feature 7- and 8-year-old teams like past years, but this year, 9- and 10-year-old teams will be added to the event.
Teams participating in 7- and 8-year-old action include St. Mary Central, Franklin, Morgan City, Thibodaux and Patterson.
Teams participating in the 9- and 10-year-old event include St. Mary Central, Franklin and Patterson.
An opening ceremony for the tournament will be held at 5:30 p.m. today before action begins at 6 p.m. with Patterson meeting St. Mary Central.
At 7:30 p.m., Morgan City will play Franklin.
On Saturday, St. Mary Central will meet Thibodaux at 9 a.m., followed by Morgan City and Patterson at 10:30 a.m. and Thibodaux and Franklin at noon.
Bracket play in a double-elimination format begins Saturday afternoon and concludes Sunday with the championship game set for 4 p.m.
The 9- and 10-year-old action will begin Saturday and conclude Sunday.
On Saturday, Franklin will meet Patterson at 11 a.m., followed by St. Mary Central and Franklin at 12:45 p.m. and St. Mary Central and Patterson at 2:30 p.m.
On Sunday, St. Mary Central will face Patterson at 11 a.m., followed by Patterson and Franklin at 12:45 p.m. and St. Mary Central and Franklin at 2:30 p.m.
