MCHS Lady Tigers fall to E.D. White in four games

Morgan City fell to E.D. White 3-1 (19-25, 25-16, 9-25, 20-25) in District 8-III volleyball action in Thibodaux Tuesday.
Morgan City had nine solo blocks.
Sh’diamond Holly led Morgan City with nine kills and seven solo blocks. Other top contributors included Abby Reynaud, 16 assists, one ace and six digs; Katelyn Gautreaux, eight digs; and Karmen Peterson, five kills and two solo blocks.
In junior varsity action, Morgan City fell 2-0 (25-19, 25-15).
Peterson led Morgan City with five kills, two aces and two digs. Other top contributors included Jolee Nini, five assists and four digs; Nia Lightfoot, three kills, two digs and one solo block; Daysha Tivet, one kill and four digs; and Jamia Francois, one kill and one solo block.
In freshman action, E.D. White won 2-0 (25-17, 25-12).
Morgan City was led by Deryon Johnson with one kill and two aces and Brittanie Girard with one kill and two digs.
Morgan City (6-16 overall, 2-2 in District 8-III) will return to action Thursday when it hosts Berwick for its annual “Paint the Pit Pink” contest. The contest also is a district match.
Patterson falls
to Thibodaux
The Patterson Lumberjills fell 3-0 (25-12, 25-9, 25-13) at Thibodaux Tuesday.
Josie Merida led Patterson with four digs and four assists. Other top contributors included Gabby Marcel, six digs; Morgan Jones, three kills and two blocks; and Madison Paul, one ace and two kills.
Patterson (4-10) will return to action Wednesday when it hosts West St. Mary in District 2-IV action.
CCHS sweeps Runnels
Central Catholic swept Runnels 3-0 (25-10, 25-7, 25-7) in nondistrict action in Morgan City Monday.
Katie Hoffpauir led Central Catholic with 13 assists, 12 aces and three digs. Other top contributors included Quincee Wiggins, five kills, one assist, six aces and three digs; Hallie Autin, eight kills, one assist and five digs; Taylor Picou, eight assists, one ace and three digs; Emma Aucoin, four aces and four digs; and Rebecca David, two solo blocks.
Central Catholic hit for a 0.367 clip and recorded 24 aces.
Central Catholic (23-10 overall, 1-0 in District 6-V) will return to action Thursday when it travels to face Covenant Christian in district action.
