Staff Report

Morgan City Junior High School’s sixth-grade team went 4-0 last week with a pair of wins each against Berwick and Central Catholic.
On Saturday, Morgan City defeated Berwick, 8-6, and Central Catholic, 22-14.
Overall, Morgan City finished its season undefeated.
“Tigers coaches would like to congratulate their athletes on their hard work this year and their undefeated season and would also like to thank the parents for all their support,” Morgan City coach Bronson Blanchard said.
Along with Morgan City, Berwick and Central Catholic, Franklin also participated in the sixth-grade league.
“I am looking forward to all teams in the parish participating to make this program grow into what is intended to be: a feeder program for the Jr. high schools leading into the high schools,” Blanchard said. “All participating schools will benefit their Jr. high programs as a feeder program. Thank you to all the local volunteer coaches that helped out to make this happen as well as any volunteer refs that made this happen, as well.
“This feeder program is taking the place of the local Atchafalaya football league, and we’d like to thank them for donating the equipment to our schools, which enabled us to play,” Blanchard added. “Without them donating the equipment to start, we would not have had gear. It’s been a great season, and I look forward to what next year has in store for the Tigers.”
