Morgan City 10s knock off Patterson 5-4

Morgan City won its final game of the District 3 AAA (10U) District Tournament at Caffery Park in Franklin Monday with a 5-4 victory in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Morgan City scored the winning run in its final at bat after Patterson tied the score in the top of the sixth inning.
“It really was a pleasure to coach these kids,” Morgan City coach Chad Miller said this morning. “They worked hard. They gave it their all. I felt that they became better baseball players from where we started to where they are now.”
Miller said his team played as a team, which was the team’s goal.
Bryson Dupuy earned the win in relief. In four innings, he surrendered two earned runs on five hits with two walks and fanned two.
Dylan Duval started the game for Morgan City and in two innings, he surrendered two unearned runs on one hit with one walk and fanned two.
Offensively, Caleb O’Con led Morgan City with a 2-for4 performance with an RBI and a run, while Duval was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Other top offensive contributors included James Richardson, 1-for-1, two runs; Gary Nicar, 1-for-1, a run; Zane Griffin, 1-for-2; Dominic Case, 1-for-3; and Karson Nelson, an RBI.
No individual stats were available for Patterson.
Franklin took the district runner-up spot in 10-year-old action, while St. Mary Central won the district title with an undefeated mark.
St. Mary Central will advance to the south regional in Ponchatoula, while Franklin will head to the north regional in Winnsboro. Both begin play Friday.
