Norwood wins 300-meter run

Morgan City High alum and former LSU track and field standout Vernon Norwood won the 300-meter dash at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix Sunday at Roxbury Community College in Roxbury, Massachusetts.
Norwood won his event in 32.70. He set a world-leading time with his finish, according to the International Association of Athletics Federations, the world governing body for the sport of track and field athletics.
His mark Sunday also broke the meet record of 32.93 set by Calvin Smith in 2011.
The world and American mark was set by Wallace Spearmon in 2006 with a time of 31.88.
