Patterson, Morgan City win all-star district openers

Patterson and Morgan City both earned wins on the first night of the District 3-AA (8U) Tournament Wednesday at Kemper Williams Park near Patterson.
Patterson knocked off Thibodaux Nationals 8-3, while Morgan City defeated Franklin 13-3 in five innings.
St. Mary Central fell to Thibodaux Americans 10-0 in four innings.
In Patterson’s win, Brylon Jennings led the squad with a 2-for-3 performance with a grand slam and six RBIs, while Brayden Mouton and Holden LeBlanc each were 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Patterson will return to action today when it plays the Thibodaux Americans in a 5:30 p.m. contest.
In the Thibodaux-St. Mary Central contest, Thibodaux outhit St. Mary Central 14-6 and had five doubles, a triple and a home run.
Thibodaux plated four runs in the first and sixth in the second.
Among the offensive leaders for Thibodaux included Parker Landry, 2-for-2, a double, an RBI and two runs; Braxton Guidry, 1-for-2, a grand slam and a run; Jensen Melancon, 2-for-2, a double and two runs; and Paxton Lafont, 2-for-2, two runs.
Grant White led St. Mary Central with a 2-for-2 performance with a double, while Austin Davis and Eli Lodrigue each were 1-for-1 and Zac Kitchen and Jason Matthews each were 1-for-2.
No individual stats were available for Morgan City’s win.
St. Mary Central will face Franklin today at 5:30 p.m., while Morgan City and Thibodaux Nationals will meet at 6:45 p.m.
On Friday, local action includes St. Mary Central and Morgan City, and Patterson and Franklin both meeting at 5:30 p.m.
On Saturday, Patterson and St. Mary Central will open the day’s action with an 11 a.m. contest, while other local games include Morgan City facing Thibodaux Americans and St. Mary Central and Thibodaux Nationals all meeting at 1 p.m. as well as Morgan City and Patterson meeting at 3 p.m.
