Sheriff Hebert announces organization of St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s League

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert announces the organization of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s League. The new league reintroduces recreational youth baseball to 13-15 year old boys in the Franklin area while continuing to support existing league play for that age group in the Morgan City area.
The recreational leaguers offer kids a summer activity that builds strong social and athletic skills through teamwork and competition. The new league is the result of meeting and working with St. Mary Parish school athletic administrators and recreational directors to fill the gap in youth baseball for the 13-15 year old age group in Franklin.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s League also brings the entire parish together under one recreational program for 13-15 year olds. With the addition of this new league, recreational team play is now available across the parish for boys from the time of age 3 to 15 continuously.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s League opened its first season in Franklin Monday with three teams: LSU, Tulane and UL.
Sheriff Mark Hebert and Franklin Mayor Raymond Harris threw out the first pitch. Hebert says, “The reorganization of the league opens the door for more kids to take part in the baseball program here in St. Mary Parish.”
