$50K ALLEGEDLY BOUND FOR ROMANIA, SEIZED BY HOMELAND SECURITY OUTSIDE OF EUNICE

One Lafayette man is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day by wearing the color orange.
St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s officials notified the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in regards to a routine traffic stop just outside of Eunice, according a Monday press release from St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.
A Lafayette man, Dorin Munteanu, 30, originally from the country of Romania, was the driver of the vehicle during the traffic stop that turned out to be far from routine.
“Our Highway Interdiction Team conducted a traffic stop on a black 2005 BMW on Highway 190 west of St. Landry Parish, said Sheriff Bobby Guidroz. “During the traffic stop, detectives recovered approximately fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) of U.S currency and several fake identifications cards. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Dorin Munteanu from Romania.”
