SHREVEPORT (AP) — An inmate moved from another jail is accused of trying to smuggle a cellphone into the Caddo Parish jail in a body cavity, Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator said Wednesday.
A body scan of Anthony Alvey, 22, of Shreveport, who was transferred April 30 from the Madison Parish Detention Center, showed a small object that deputies couldn’t find despite a second body scan and a search, Prator said.
He said Alvey eventually told deputies that he had hidden the phone in his rectum. He was sent to University Health Center, where Prator says Alvey removed the phone.
Prator said Alvey was booked on a new charge of bringing contraband into a penal facility.
