Morgan City native completes command assignment

Capt. James Kelly Jr., a Morgan City native, recently was assigned to Fort Irwin, Calif., as an observer controller/trainer after completing his command assignment of Alpha Company, 2-501st Aviation Regiment at Fort Bliss, Texas.
His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal (one Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal (two Oak Leaf Clusters) and Meritorious Unit Citation. He also earned the Aviator Badge and the Parachutist Badge.
He holds the Federal Aviation Administration Commercial Rotorcraft/Helicopter Pilot certification.
Kelly is the son of Rosalie and James Kelly Sr. of Morgan City. He is a 2001 graduate of Morgan City High School and 2005 graduate of Southern University.
