Respiratory Care Week will be celebrated Oct. 19 to 25 at Teche Regional Medical Center. The week is dedicated to supporting the professionals who have been referred to as the “silent heroes” of the medical world, a news release stated. Respiratory therapists treat people with disorders affecting the heart and lung systems such as asthma, emphysema, pneumonia, cardiovascular disorders and trauma. The combined cardiopulmonary staff at Teche Regional Medical Center has more than 200 years of experience. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 22, there will be an opportunity to view the services and equipment available to help therapists meet the needs of patients. There will also be therapists present to help answer questions and distribute literature at that time.
