Colonels to host fundraising auction

Over the years, I’ve been able to accumulate a lot of special sports memorabilia from college and NFL teams and players.

The Nicholls State University football program will hold a fundraising auction Aug. 16 in the Century Club Room at John L. Guidry Stadium.
The auction will begin at 11:30 a.m. following the Colonels’ final scrimmage of the fall and will last until approximately 1 p.m. The event is free, and light food and refreshments will be served.
Purchases can be made by auction or silent auction. Items up for bid include autographed sports memorabilia from college and professional football teams and players, trips with the Colonel football team and special football-related experiences.
All proceeds will go directly to the Nicholls football program.
“Over the years, I’ve been able to accumulate a lot of special sports memorabilia from college and NFL teams and players,” Nicholls football head coach Charlie Stubbs said in a news release. “With this auction, we’re hoping to raise additional funds in order for the players and coaches to have all the items and equipment necessary to work towards achieving our team goal, which is to win a Southland Conference championship.”
Payments for the winning bids can be made by cash, credit cards and personal checks.
In addition to the auction, season tickets for the upcoming 2014 campaign and Colonel Athletic Association memberships will be available for purchase.
