Nicholls golf tournament to be held at The Atchafalaya at Idlewild

The Nicholls State University men’s golf team will host its third annual Atchafalaya Intercollegiate at The Atchafalaya at Idlewild near Patterson Monday and Tuesday.
The tournament will feature 45 golfers. Play begins Monday at 8 a.m. with golfers playing 36 holes, and it will conclude Tuesday with an 8 a.m. start and 18-hole play.
In addition to the host squad, Nicholls, New Orleans, Louisiana Monroe, Incarnate Word, Mobile, Texas Southern, Central Arkansas and Texas-Rio Grande Valley.

Nicholls’ golf team features eight members: junior Albert Badosa-Soler of Girona, Spain; redshirt senior Josh Fullilove of Larose; sophomore Jack Lee of Bihorel, France; senior Peyton McCulloch of Zachary; junior Emil Ragnarsson of Kopavogur, Iceland; sophomore Baker Stevenson of Hartland, Michigan; redshirt sophomore Jamison Thomassee of Opelousas; and junior Chad Watts-Denyes of Hamilton, Ontario.
Next week’s tournament will kick off the Colonels’ spring season.
Nicholls will participate in three additional tournaments this spring: Houston Baptist University’s Colin Montgomerie Invitational in Spring, Texas (Feb. 27-28), Stephen F. Austin’s Bob Sitton Invitational in Dallas (March 14-15) and the University of Missouri’s Tiger Invitational in Columbia, Missouri (April 10-11). The Southland Conference Championships will be held April 24-26 in McKinney, Texas.
Nicholls participated in three tournaments in the fall with their highest finish coming in their opener in September at the John Dallio Memorial in Lemont, Illinois, where the team finished seventh out of 13 teams.
