Northwestern State dominates Lamar 99-85

NATCHITOCHES (AP) — Zikiteran Woodley made 12 of 15 field goal attempts for a career-high 30 points as Northwestern State dominated Lamar 99-85 in Southland Conference play Saturday.

Woodley had been averaging 13.3 points a game this season.

Brison White had 16 points and DeQuan Hicks and Jalan West contributed 13 each.

Northwestern State (5-8, 1-1) bounced back following a 107-104 double overtime loss to Sam Houston State Thursday night. The Demons came within a point of breaking the 100 barrier for the fifth time this year.

Northwestern State held a 21-16 lead at the midway point of the first half. Lamar (1-13, 0-2) came back to tie it at 31 on an Amos Wilson layup. West followed with a jumper and two free throws as the Demons went on to a dominating 49-36 halftime advantage. Northwestern State led 90-70 with 5:49 remaining.

Nimrod Hilliard had 29 points and eight assists for Lamar.
