Stewart named to AP All-Bowl Team

Staff Report

Houston defensive back Trevon Stewart was named to the Associated Press’ All-Bowl Team for his play in Houston’s Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl win against Florida State, the organization announced Tuesday.
Playing against a Florida State team that had only 10 turnovers entering the game, Stewart accounted for three alone (two interceptions, one fumble recovery) as part of the five turnovers forced by the Houston defense.
Stewart had four tackles, one for a loss, and one pass breakup to help lead a Houston defense that held Florida State to just 16 net yards rushing and Florida State running back Dalvin Cook to 33 total rushing yards.
Entering the bowl season, Cook ranked third nationally with an average 150.7 rushing yards per game.
With his 10th career fumble recovery in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, Stewart extended his Houston career record in the category while he moved into seventh on the career interceptions chart with his 11th and 12th interceptions in the game.
