A 25-year-old Houma man was arrested in Berwick Thursday on numerous warrants relating to fraudulent documents, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
Luis Alberto Romero Cruz, 25, of the 100 block of Coteau Court in Houma, was arrested at 4:45 p.m. Thursday
Sixteenth Judicial District warrants for two counts unlawful production, manufacturing, distribution or possession of fraudulent documents for identification purposes, two counts filing false public records, two counts forgery identity theft, access device fraud, bank fraud, and illegal transmission of monetary funds, 17th Judicial District warrants for two counts forgery, two counts unlawful production, manufacturing, distribution or possession of fraudulent documents for identification purposes, and two counts filing false public records, and 32nd Judicial District warrant for four counts unlawful production, manufacturing, distribution or possession of fraudulent documents for identification purposes, four counts of forgery, four counts for filing false public records of identity theft.
St. Mary Parish sheriff’s deputies assisted the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Customs agents, in the apprehension of Cruz on the warrants at a business on River Road in Berwick. Cruz was jailed with no bail set.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 42 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—A juvenile male, 15, of Patterson, was arrested at 8:05 a.m. Thursday for disturbing the peace fighting.
—A juvenile male, 16, of Patterson, was arrested at 8:05 a.m. Thursday for disturbing the peace fighting.
A deputy responded to a report of a fight at Patterson High School. Following an investigation, the two juveniles were released to guardians pending juvenile court proceedings.
—Jolene R. Guillory, 38, of the 300 block of Charlotte Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 9:12 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. A deputy located Guillory at a business in Morgan City on the warrant. Guillory was released on a summons to appear in court March 26.
—Jaye Bliss, 24, of the 1900 block of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 2:24 p.m. Thursday on four warrants for failure to appear on the charges of unauthorized use of a moveable, two incidents of simple burglary and two incidents of theft. Bliss was also charged on a warrant from Berwick police for illegal possession of stolen things. He was jailed. No bail is set.
—Charles Preece, 25, of the 1900 block of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 2:24 p.m. Thursday for possession of drug paraphernalia and obstruction of justice. Following the apprehension of Jaye Bliss, narcotics detectives returned to a residence on Fourth Street in Morgan City to secure the residence that had been left open when Bliss fled. Detectives observed Preece drop a homemade smoking pipe used to smoke illegal drugs onto the floor inside the residence. Preece was jailed.
—Sherie Pullen, 39, of 100 block of Shannon Street, Patterson, was arrested at 7:08 p.m. Thursday for cruelty to juveniles. During an investigation into a report of a disturbance, the deputy learned that Pullen struck a teenage female victim multiple times during an argument. Pullen was jailed with no bail set.
—Vanessa Spencer, 27, of the 400 block of Shell Beach Road in Pierre Part, was arrested at 9:21 p.m. Thursday for theft of goods. A deputy responding to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista learned from store personnel that Spencer was seen concealing items in her purse before attempting to leave the store without paying for the goods. Spencer was released on a summons to appear in court on March 26.
—Benjamin Dupuy, 45, of the 100 block of Pluto Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 10:39 p.m. Thursday for simple battery.
—Joseph Kilby, 40, of the 1500 block of Herman Dupuis Road in Breaux Bridge, was arrested at 10:39 p.m. Thursday for simple battery.
Deputies responded to a complaint of a fight in the parking of a bar in Bayou Vista. Deputies spoke with witnesses identifying Dupuy and Kilby as two people who were involved in a physical altercation. Both were jailed with bail set at $500.
—Jack Bergeron Jr., 33, of the 400 block of Clarke Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 10:40 p.m. Thursday for disturbing the peace (intoxicated) and resisting an officer. While investigating the complaint of a fight listed above, a deputy made contact with Bergeron and smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and person. The deputy requested that Bergeron move away from the area. Bergeron refused to comply and began yelling at deputies. After repeatedly ordering Bergeron away from the site, Bergeron continued his refusal to comply. As the deputy affected Bergeron’s arrest, he attempted to run away from the deputy. Bergeron was jailed with bail set at $1,500.
—Matthew J. Miller, 19, of the 1100 block of General Clark Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 2 a.m. today for no driver’s license on person, speeding, and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of Schedule I marijuana. A deputy conducted a traffic on a vehicle for speeding on U.S. 90 in Berwick. During the traffic stop, the deputy learned that Miller held an active warrant for his arrest. Miller was jailed with bail set at $2,100.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
