A Gibson man was arrested this morning after he struck a vehicle at a bar in Amelia and pointed a gun at a man before fleeing the scene, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Adam Leblanc, 24, of the 400 block of Fandal Street in Gibson, was arrested at 2:16 a.m. today for aggravated assault with a firearm, flight from an officer, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, reckless operation of a vehicle, hit and run driving, obstructing a public passage, possession of Schedule I marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a bar in Amelia. The deputy received information that someone involved in the disturbance had left the area in a pickup truck. The deputy observed a truck matching the description provided by the complainant and initiated a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop. The deputy briefly pursued the vehicle on La. 182 when the vehicle stopped after striking a fence.
The driver, identified as Leblanc, was detained. The deputy learned from witnesses that before driving away from the bar, Leblanc struck another vehicle and pointed a gun at a male victim, Hebert said. The deputy observed a gun inside the vehicle along with marijuana and rolling papers. Leblanc was jailed with no bail set.
An Amelia man was arrested on warrants stemming from a Feb. 8 St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office investigation where the man struck a woman, grabbed her by the throat, and threw several items inside a residence while an infant was nearby, the sheriff said.
—Andrew Hebert, 22, of the 100 block of Lake Palourde Road in Amelia, was arrested at 3:37 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for domestic abuse battery strangulation, child endangerment, and resisting an officer. While assisting Probation and Parole Officers, a sheriff’s deputy made contact with Hebert who held an active warrant for arrest.
The warrant stems from an investigation that began on Feb. 8 after a deputy patrolling the Amelia area heard what sounded like a woman screaming for help, the sheriff said. The deputy observed a man grabbing the arm of a female who was pushing an infant in a stroller, the sheriff said.
Upon seeing the deputy, the man fled on foot evading the deputy. The deputy learned that Hebert struck the female victim and grabbed her by the throat while at a residence on Lake Palourde Road, the sheriff said. Hebert also threw several items inside the residence while the infant was nearby, the sheriff said. Hebert was jailed with no bail set.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 35 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—John Carlisle, 54, of the 2000 block of Corner Meadow Circle in Orlando, Fla., was arrested at 7:38 a.m. Wednesday for driving while intoxicated and failure to obey a traffic control sign. A deputy observed a vehicle make an illegal left turn at the intersection of La. 182 and the Berwick exit and made contact with the driver, identified as Carlisle. The deputy conducted a field sobriety test on which Carlisle performed poorly. Carlisle refused to submit to a breath test, Hebert said. He was jailed with no bail set.
—Derek Pellegrin, 35, of the 100 block of Bermuda Court in Houma, was arrested at 2:32 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant from the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear on the charge of domestic abuse battery. A deputy located Pellegrin on Siracusa Road in Morgan City. Pellegrin was jailed with bail set at $300.
—Kenneth J. Wilson, 42, of the 300 block of Charlotte Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 5:28 p.m. Wednesday for driving while intoxicated second offense and hit and run driving. A deputy responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on La. 182 in Patterson. While en route, the deputy received information that the driver of the vehicle had left the scene on foot. The deputy located a car in a ditch off La. 182. Using a description provided by witnesses, the deputy was able to make contact with the driver who was asked to return to the scene. The deputy identified the driver as Wilson, who performed poorly on the field sobriety test and later registered .213 grams-percent blood alcohol content on the breath test. Wilson was jailed with no bail set.
Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—Ted P. Richard Jr., 32, of Schriever, was arrested at 1:02 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for second degree battery.
Richard turned himself in to the Morgan City Police Department to be booked on a warrant which stemmed from an incident that occurred in Morgan City in February. Richard was accused of striking another subject causing injuries, Banks said. He was jailed and released after posting $2,500 cash bail.
—Casey N. Francois, 28, of Mallard Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:12 p.m. Wednesday for domestic abuse battery.
Officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a Mallard Street residence. Officers learned that Francois had committed a battery on a male at that residence causing minor injuries, Banks said. Francois was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Lionel Jones Jr., 26, of the 100 block of Mill Road in Patterson, was arrested at 8:04 p.m. Wednesday for remaining where forbidden. Jones was released on $217 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
