A Morgan City man was arrested Friday on a Morgan City police warrant for rape, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Lawrence Blackburn, 36, of the 1100 block of Grace Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:26 p.m. Friday on a warrant from Morgan City police for simple rape. Blackburn turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin on the warrant. The warrant stems from a report of a rape earlier this month in Morgan City. He was jailed and released on $10,000 bail.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 108 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Kenneth Hamilton III, 26, of the 500 block of Bayou Boeuf Street in Amelia, was arrested at 12:28 a.m. Saturday for battery of a police officer, resisting an officer with force, criminal damage to property, disturbing the peace intoxicated, and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of careless operation of motor vehicle and operating a vehicle with an expired license plate.
A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a lounge in Amelia. The deputy saw two males on the ground outside the business. The deputy learned from the complainant and other witnesses that Hamilton, one of the two people observed on the ground, was causing a disturbance. While being transported to the parish jail, Hamilton broke a window of the patrol unit and kicked a deputy, Hebert said. No bail is set.
—Joshua F. Pellissier, 28, of the 100 block of Aucoin Street in Amelia, was arrested at 3:49 p.m. Friday on warrants for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile
Pellissier was located at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City on the warrant. The warrant stems from an investigation in which detectives located marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia at Pellissier’s residence, Hebert said. Pellissier was jailed with no bail set.
—Patricia V. Thomas, 41, of the 300 block of Bowman Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:23 p.m. Friday on three warrants for failure to appear on the charges of driving while intoxicated, improper lane usage, failure to use a seatbelt and disturbing the peace. Thomas was jailed with bail set at $5,100.
—Roderick A. Hunter, 32, of the 100 block of Shady Grove Road in Patterson, was arrested Friday on three warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. Hunter was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville from Vermillion Parish on the warrants. Bond is set at $300,000.
—A juvenile female, 15, of Patterson, was arrested Saturday for simple battery. A deputy conducted an investigation into a complaint of a battery that occurred at Charenton Park between two juvenile females. The 15-year-old girl was identified as one of the females involved. The deputy located the juvenile at her residence. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
—Harry D. Johnson, 35, of the 400 block of Sixth Street in Franklin, was arrested Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of operating a vehicle without proper tail lights and driving under suspension. A deputy responded to a report of a two vehicle crash on La. 182 in Bayou Vista. Johnson, one of the drivers involved in the crash, was jailed and released on $5,000 bail.
—Roy Marks Jr., 45, of the 100 block of Fortier Circle in Jeanerette, was arrested Sunday for disturbing the peace intoxicated. A deputy responded to a complaint of an intoxicated person in the parking lot of a business in Bayou Vista. The deputy made contact with Marks and smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. The deputy learned that Marks threw a cup containing an unknown liquid that hit another vehicle in the parking lot. Marks was jailed and released on $500 bail.
—Brenda L. Walters, 48, of the 200 block of North Verret Street in Amelia, was arrested Sunday for disturbing the peace intoxicated. Walters was jailed and released on $500 bail.
Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—Timothy T. Humphrey, 26, of Amelia, was arrested Sunday for possession of Schedule II controlled dangerous substance-cocaine, possession of Schedule II controlled dangerous substance-crack cocaine, possession of Schedule II controlled dangerous substance-hydrocodone, possession of Schedule III controlled dangerous substance-clonazepam, violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance law-school zone, resisting an officer and possession of an alcoholic beverage in a moving vehicle.
—Ameedah T. Charles, 29, of Short Street in Morgan City, was arrested Sunday for possession of Schedule II controlled dangerous substance-cocaine, possession of Schedule II controlled dangerous substance-crack cocaine, possession of Schedule III controlled dangerous substance-hydrocodone, possession of Schedule II controlled dangerous substance-clonazepam, violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance law-school zone and a warrant from the St. Mary Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear on the charge of theft less than $500.
Narcotics detectives observed a suspicious vehicle in the area of Acorn and Garber streets. As investigators stopped the vehicle, a man fled from the vehicle. The man, identified as Humphrey, was located a short time later hiding under a residence, Banks said. He was returned to the scene and detained with the other subject in the vehicle, identified as Charles. During the investigation, powder cocaine, crack cocaine, hydrocodone and clonazepam were located inside the vehicle along with an open container of alcoholic beverage. Humphrey and Charles were jailed. The vehicle was in a school zone area, Banks said.
—Israel Ramirez, 28, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested Sunday for illegal discharge of a firearm and possession of an alcoholic beverage in a moving vehicle.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Railroad Avenue regarding gunshots in the area. Officers arrived and during their investigation, recovered shell casings and statements from witnesses. A suspect vehicle was located a short time later in the area and the driver, Ramirez, was detained. During the stop, officers located additional evidence inside the vehicle and a .45-caliber handgun. Ramirez was jailed.
—Dietra R. James, 36, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was arrested Saturday for domestic abuse battery.
Officers were summoned to a Fourth Street residence regarding a complaint of an uncontrollable juvenile. Officers arrived and learned that James and a juvenile daughter had been involved in an altercation. Officers discovered minor injuries and scratches on the neck of the juvenile which were allegedly caused by James in the altercation, Banks said. James was jailed based on statements and evidence at the scene for the battery.
—Corey J. Rogers, 37, of Bush Street in Morgan City, was arrested Friday for simple battery involving a juvenile.
Officers responded to a complaint of disturbance at a Bush Street residence. Officers learned from witnesses that Rogers had grabbed a 9-year-old juvenile, throwing the juvenile to the ground. Officers spoke to Rogers, who was located at his residence. Rogers admitted to officers that he had shoved the child, Banks said. Rogers was jailed.
—Edward U. Giroir, 19, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested Friday on a warrant for felony unauthorized use of an access card, a warrant for two counts of misdemeanor unauthorized use of an access card, a warrant for three counts of attempted unauthorized use of an access card, two counts for unauthorized use of an access card as theft and two counts for theft of an access card.
—Chad A. Arabie, 18, of Ditch Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested Friday for unauthorized use of an access card as theft.
—Kenneth R. Hebert, 18, of Iowa Street in Morgan City, was arrested Friday for unauthorized use of an access card as theft.
On Feb. 3, investigators instituted an investigation into the theft of credit cards which occurred at a Morgan City restaurant. During the investigation, it was learned that the credit cards had been used at several local retail outlets at locations ranging from Patterson to Morgan City, Banks said.
Detectives identified Giroir as a suspect in the investigation. Giroir, who was an employee at the restaurant where the theft occurred, was questioned and evidence obtained which implicated him as well as two other people in the use of the access cards, Banks said.
The other two suspects, identified as Arabie and Hebert, were also questioned and implicated as being involved. Giroir, Arabie and Hebert were jailed. Because some of the purchases were made at locations in the Bayou Vista and Patterson areas, arrest warrants were secured by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Department as well as the Morgan City Police Department. Some of the items purchased by the fraudulent means were recovered as evidence, Banks said.
—Luis J. Obregon, 32, of Port Arthur, Texas, was arrested Saturday for appearing in an intoxicated condition and criminal damage to property.
Obregon was arrested at a Railroad Avenue apartment complex after officers responded to a disturbance at that location. Officers learned that Obregon had allegedly damaged a windshield on another person’s vehicle after that subject had asked Obregon to lower music playing in the parking lot of the complex. Obregon was jailed.
—Brennan R. Tabor, 26, of Chatsworth Drive in Morgan City, was arrested Saturday for a stop sign violation, a warrant for resisting an officer and disturbing the peace intoxicated first offense. Tabor was jailed.
—John Ross, 45, of Morgan City, was arrested Saturday for appearing in public in an intoxicated condition.
Ross was located by officers in the area of Fourth Street and Brashear Avenue in an intoxicated condition. Ross was jailed.
—Joni L. Madison, 33, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was arrested Saturday for no tail lamps and operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.
Madison was stopped at David Drive and La. 182. She was jailed.
—Jerry Boyer, 67, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested Sunday for appearing in an intoxicated condition. Boyer was located at the corner of Fifth Street and Brashear Avenue in an intoxicated condition. Boyer was jailed.
—Shandace Harris, 25, of Berwick, was arrested Sunday for a stop sign violation and operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.
An officer stopped a vehicle in the area of Terrebonne Street and Federal Avenue after the driver failed to negotiate a stop sign. The driver, Harris, was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Shawn Welsh, 43, of the 700 block of St. Gabriel Street in Patterson, was arrested Friday for disturbing the peace intoxicated. Welsh was jailed on $323 bail.
—Jade Mary, 21, of the 400 block of Park Street in Patterson, was arrested Saturday for possession of synthetic cannabinoids, suspended driver’s license, general speed law, and a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for failure to appear on the charge of speeding. Bail is set at $3,584.50.
—Samuel P. Gary, 23, of the 600 block of Sixth Street in Morgan City, was arrested Sunday for two counts of resisting an officer by force, possession of marijuana, battery on a police officer, and disturbing the peace by language. No bail is set at this time.
—Eugene A. White, 33, of the 800 block of Tall Timbers Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 12:34 a.m. today for DWI first offense, no insurance, no driver’s license, open container, and careless operation with an accident. White was jailed with no bail set at this time.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Juan Torres Jr., 24, of the 100 block of Stacy Street in Morgan City, was arrested Sunday for disturbing the peace intoxicated. Torres was jailed.
—Russell Allen, 44, of the 3500 block of Second Street in Berwick, was arrested Sunday on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for failure to appear for theft. Allen was jailed.
—Heath Thompson, 35, of the 100 block of Myrtle Street in Morgan City, was arrested Friday for license plate light required and driving under suspension. Thompson was released on bail.
—Earvin Thomas, 56, of the 2600 block of Fourth Street in Berwick, was arrested Friday for stalking. Thomas was jailed and is awaiting bail to be set.
